Tip Wednesday-Paint & Eyelash Curlers???

Friends playing with painting on the backgroun...

Happy Hump Day to all. I couldn’t wait until my Saturday post to share these two tips with you.

Removing Acrylic Paint from Clothing

My name is Kim…. and I’m a clutz. I haven’t fallen down in 3 days.  Instead of “I came, I saw, I conquered”, my motto is ” I tripped, I fell, I spilled it all over myself.”  I wish I could remember where I read this in the last week but alas my brain fails me. I read that rubbing alcohol will remove acrylic paint from clothing.

The Test

At our Arrow of Light ceremony with the Cub Scouts this past weekend we put paint on the boys faces to mean different things. At the end of the ceremony, I spilled white acrylic paint on my scout leader uniform shirt and my jeans. So much for ” A Scout is Clean…”  If you aren’t into scouting, let me just tell you that a scout leader uniform shirt is NOT cheap. I cringed at the thought of having to buy another one. So I decided to test it.

I poured rubbing alcohol on the spots dousing them well and let it sit for a couple of seconds. Then I grabbed some cotton balls and scrubbed. All of the paint came out. I was thrilled. It took half a bottle of rubbing alcohol and some elbow grease, but it saved my clothes.

The Correct Way to Use Eyelash Curlers

I didn’t know there was a right and wrong way. I saw this tidbit on Shine! by Yahoo yesterday.

Here’s the recipe for perfectly curled lashes…

  • Your lashes must be dry and clean. Wet lashes apparently don’t hold curl well.  So don’t watch 8 seconds, Beaches, Ghost,  Old Yeller or any of those other movies that make one sob uncontrollably while trying to curl your eyelashes.
  • Blow the hair dryer on the eyelash curler for a few seconds. Not too long (trust me) or you’ll burn your eyelid. This has the effect of a curling iron for your eyelashes.
  • Place the curler on the back of the lashes.  Pump three times, release and repeat.
  • Now you should have properly curled lashes.  :)

I was pleasantly surprised that it worked so well with the eyelash curler tricks. Thanks for commenting.
